National Photographic Portrait Prize 2007 Finalist
I took this portrait of Rosemary as part of a series of portraits of teenage girls I was working on this year. Rosemary is 17 years old and works full time as a carer in a nursing home for the aged.
Two professionals; Australian surfer Layne Beachley and photographer Petrina Hicks, combine their strengths to achieve a remarkable portrait.
Photography is the most pervasive and popular medium for portraiture and makes a natural fit with the Gallery, being a natural extension of the Gallery's longstanding commitment to photography as a contemporary portrait medium.
