National Photographic Portrait Prize 2007 Finalist
I live, work and study in Brisbane. My photography focuses on the social changes occurring in this rapidly growing city; documenting the impact of gentrification on the strongholds of alternative Australian lifestyles in places like West End. The portrait is of Gavin MacDonell, who runs a theming and events company, and Ray Cook, a prominent Brisbane-based artist.
Photography is the most pervasive and popular medium for portraiture and makes a natural fit with the Gallery, being a natural extension of the Gallery's longstanding commitment to photography as a contemporary portrait medium.
