National Photographic Portrait Prize 2018 Finalist
This 20 year-old Polish novice nun, Sister Julietta, was taking a break from looking after a group of young children who she said exhausted her. In fact, she found the convent’s rigid discipline as a whole to be exhausting, and was having second thoughts about whether she was suited to the monastic life. Julietta’s parents had encouraged her to join the nuns so that she could receive a proper education, which otherwise would not be available to her. But it now seemed to her like a high price to pay.

The exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
