National Photographic Portrait Prize 2014 Finalist
A woman's body and soul in pregnancy can symbolise life and hope. The internal journey during this time is fertile ground for the realm of feeling. Karina found herself 'dreamy' during this phase of pregnancy and simply let herself be true to these feelings for her portrait. The portrait potentially extends beyond Karina to allow others an understanding of what it feels like to hold life in your body. The photograph was made on film that measures 7x11 inches in a view camera. It was printed in a traditional darkroom.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is selected from a national field of entries that reflect the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
