12-year-old Rosita stands defiant and slightly aloof from the viewer, a child on the cusp of becoming a woman. She is heavily absorbed into the pop culture pushed through media channels, with all of its seductive mixed messages. Here she displays an uncharacteristic hardness, almost a withdrawn protective shell surrounding her. The small diamante heart on her t-shirt betokens the little girl that she still harbours within.
