National Photographic Portrait Prize 2011 Finalist
This image is of Leanne Stojmenov, from a series documenting the Australian Ballet’s 2010 Japan tour. The costume is designed by Kristian Frederickson for Graeme Murphy’s ‘Nutcracker - the story of Clara’ and my concept was to shoot the dancers in typical Tokyo environments to contrast the cultural differences between the East and West; particularly using the classical form of ballet within such landscapes.
