Jerrems included five photographs of Bobbi Sykes in A book about Australian women, four of which show her during the 1972 Black Moratorium, deftly commanding the attention of the gathered crowd as she speaks and listens. During the Black Moratorium, 500 First Nations people led a 6000-strong demonstration in Sydney, advocating for Land Rights. The energy of these photographs is momentous and impassioned. They constitute a relatively rare instance of Jerrems photographing people at a major public event, their attention directed elsewhere, rather than in a specific portrait session.
