Looking to go on an adventure across Australia? Tune in for a reading of  the treasured classic, ‘Possum Magic’ read by Mem Fox. Go on a quest with Grandma Poss and Hush to find some magic food (have your lamingtons and vegemite sandwiches ready, you might get hungry!). Our crafty Gallery team will then guide you through some creative activities. You might decide to do one or all!

How to make something invisible be visible again  – just like Hush!

You will need:

  • A white wax candle
  • White paper
  • Food colouring or watercolour paints (you can add water to any paints you have at home!)
  • A plate or container to pour your paint on
  • Paint brushes or a pastry brush

Make a possum friend!

You will need:

  • Wooden peg
  • Paper plate
  • Cardboard (a recycled cereal box works well)
  • Something to draw with, like markers or pencils
  • Something sticky! Double sided tape, sticky tape or Blu Tack
  • Scissors (remember to ask for help with these if you need it!)
  • Pipe cleaners (optional)

Go on a journey around Australia

You will need:

  • A sheet of paper, A4 or A3 is best OR print off our map template and have it ready to go
  • Something to draw with, like markers or pencils

Made possible with funds donated by Tim Fairfax AC.
