Amanda King is a Sydney-based visual artist and producer and director of film documentaries. In 1987 she co-produced the first independent Australian-made documentary about East Timor, The Shadow Over East Timor. In the forthcoming A Thousand Different Angles, she profiles her 90-year-old aunt, sculptor Inge King, who continues to produce bold public art. King's portraits are usually of figures she admires. In 1999 her collage portrait of Natasha Stott Despoja was a finalist in the Archibald Prize. Her portrait of Jennie George was exhibited in the Salon des Refuses and the Portia Geach Memorial Award in 1998, and that of Mick Dodson was exhibited in the Salon des Refuses in 2001.
