St John Vianney’s Primary School
St John Vianney’s Primary School is located on Namatjira Drive in the Canberra suburb of Waramanga. Since visiting the National Portrait Gallery for the launch of the Australian Schools Portrait Project earlier in the year, Year 5-6 students have been busy developing their own unique responses to the subject of Albert Namatjira, Australia’s most well-known Aboriginal artist.
Creating portraits, information reports, acrostic puzzles and poems, the students have proudly presented their work in the school’s entrance. The SJV Portrait Gallery is an outstanding display that shows how much the students have learned about their subject and explores the rich history behind the suburb and street names in their local area.
