Robert Ross (1792–1862), clergyman, studied medicine in his native Edinburgh before being ordained into the Church of Scotland in 1818. He joined the Edinburgh Missionary Society. He worked in Russia between 1818 and 1825; and as the minister of a church in Worcestershire from 1827 to 1839, during which time he became involved in the Colonial Missionary Society and the London Missionary Society . He came to Sydney in 1839 to take up the role of minister of the Pitt Street Congregational Church, remaining in this position until his resignation in 1854.
