Noel Rubie (1901–1976) was a painter and photographer who had a portrait and industrial photography studio in Sydney and worked during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. An Archibald Prize finalist in 1930, he exhibited at Grosvenor Galleries and the David Jones' Art Gallery and with the Royal Art Society and the Australian Art Society, and his work appeared in Art in Australia magazine. Rubie was also involved with the National Theatre, as photographer, actor, writer and set designer. The National Library of Australia, the State Library of Victoria and the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences hold examples of his photographs, a number of which depict actors and other performers.
