Mark Kimber grew up in Adelaide and gained his BA in Fine Arts at the South Australian School of Art in 1981. In 2000 he completed an MA in Fine Arts at the Chelsea School of Art in London. Currently the Coordinator of Photo Studies at the South Australian School of Art, University of South Australia, since the early 1980s he has exhibited within Australia and internationally. His work is held in various public and private collections including the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Artbank, the Parliament House Collection, the Waverley City Art Gallery, the Albury Regional Gallery and the London Institute.
