Karl Duldig (1902-1986) studied art in Vienna between 1923 to 1933, interrupted by his success in sport, first as a soccer international, then as a tennis player and finally as a table-tennis title holder. After travelling extensively in Europe, he shared a studio in Vienna with Arthur Fleischmann (1935-1938), before departing for Singapore where he ran an art school for a year. Arriving in Australia in 1940, he was interned for a year, before serving in the army and then taking various jobs. He taught at Mentone Grammar school form 1945-67. Duldig received a number a number of public commissions and was awarded the Victorian Sculptor's Society Prize in 1956.
