Bruce Postle began his photojournalism career at Queensland Country Life and the Brisbane Courier Mail. In 1968 he moved to the Melbourne Age, where he remained a staff photographer until 1996. He has worked as a freelance photographer since. He is a Walkley award winner and in 2007 was awarded a Quill Lifetime Achievement Award by the Melbourne Press Club. He has fifty photographs in the Hall of Fame at the National Port Museum at the MCG. His work is represented in the books A Day in the Life of Australia (1981), Images of Our Time: Thirty Years of News Photographs (1985) and Capturing the Moment: Photographs of Australian Sport (1995).
