National Photographic Portrait Prize 2017 Finalist
Maeve Marsden and Libby Wood are performers with smart minds and angelic voices. I photographed them for a show they were performing called ‘Mother’s Ruin’, a cabaret about the hidden history of women and gin. In a lot of shots they are laughing and smiling, which is their natural state of being. But this is my favourite shot from the day, their faux-stony faces hiding a fearless love of the absurd and a passion for what they do so well.
The exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
