National Photographic Portrait Prize 2015 Finalist
I am quite petite and finding clothes that fit properly is like finding a needle in a haystack. Sewing is a dying art. Gen Y wants everything straight away and buy everything on the internet. My mother taught me to sew as a child and I developed a passion for the craft of dressmaking and alterations. Turning beautiful soft flowing fabrics into a dress, into a fitted elegant outfit, is like creating a unique piece just like a photographer or painter would create a work. My sewing room is my sanctuary. Sewing soothes the mind and is a very rewarding experience.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
