National Photographic Portrait Prize 2009 Finalist
In the suburbs, couples respond to an advertisement 'Models wanted to participate in photo shoots.' Attracting the curious, the 'wannabes' and even the exhibitionists, these models collaborate with the photographer as they perform for the camera. The couples bring their own agendas to the photographs as the ambiguous and fanciful realms emerge, couples act out their own internal desires. Both avid photographers, Paul in particular likes taking photos of his wife, Nina.
In its second year at the National Portrait Gallery, and for the first time touring to other venues, the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2009 continues to present surprising perspectives on the nature of contemporary portrait photography.
