When I first saw this stranger, who I came to know as Stanley, I was struck by the likeness to a medieval angel – with a cloud of blonde hair. Letting hair grow over the pandemic, Stanley emerged from two years of lockdowns defiant. This portrait of Stanley speaks of this dual emergence; from adolescence into adulthood but also moving from an all-encompassing period of lockdown into a newer, freer self.
