National Photographic Portrait Prize 2022 Finalist
Sophie Howard, 17, in transitional housing. 'So my homelessness started, I guess, with my home situation and just where I was living wasn't a very safe place for me to be. I had my 17th birthday in a refuge for women. It's sad. I mean no one wants to be in that situation or in that predicament. It just makes you feel like you have hit rock-bottom at that point, especially when you're so young, you just feel like you should be with a loving family and to be able to feel safe, and not everyone gets that opportunity.'
