Michael Abbott graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Adelaide in 1964. Practicing as a barrister of the Supreme Court of South Australia from 1966. In 2001 Michael was awarded a Centenary Medal for his service to Australian society through the law, arts and education in 2011 Combining his extensive knowledge, experience and passion across the areas of law, the arts and intercultural development, Michael became a member of the University of South Australia Council in 2019, and in May 2024 was appointed Chancellor of the University. The definition of Aussie award.
