Often, I choose to paint self portraits. I feel that these tend to reflect my perspective as an artist. I dedicate this painting to the younger me, who never thought I could make it this far in art. It features cameos of some of my other artworks in the background. The red string is an addition I’ve featured in some of my older paintings and is a reoccurring aspect of my work. It symbolises how I tie my life into painting and my family’s influence upon my work.

Launched at the National Portrait Gallery in 2022, the Little Darlings Youth Portrait Prize is a competition for primary and secondary students, with four separate age categories across Kindergarten to Year 12.
