‘Wonder’ is a self-portrait of a snippet of my journey of finding and redefining myself. Coming from a culturally-diverse background, the continuation of my culture, the ‘reinvention’ of my self-conception, I painted one of the nights when I wondered about myself in my room. ‘Wonder’ centers around the ‘me’ part of the theme of ‘Me and My Place’. With watercolour, I painted myself looking into a mirror on my desk, as an example of when I am ‘reconfiguring’ and ‘recalibrating’ the views on myself, my identity, and who I am as an individual.
Little Darlings is for primary and secondary students, with four separate categories across Kindergarten to Year 12. Responding to the theme ‘Me and my place’, students painted, drew, photographed, printed or combined all of these to make their portrait.
