This is intended to challenge beauty standards in an implicit way. Usually people with illness or sickness are seen as unhealthy and ‘not beautiful’. However, beauty is diverse. Anyone with any appearance could be identified as beautiful, there should not be any labels or tags on how a person should look. As Australia is a diverse country, I didn’t use a typical Australian person’s features as my subject matter.

Little Darlings Youth Portrait Prize 2022

Previous exhibition, 2022

Little Darlings is for primary and secondary students, with four separate categories across Kindergarten to Year 12. Responding to the theme ‘identity’, students painted, drew, photographed, printed or combined all of these to make their portrait.
