Living Memory Finalist
Archibald Prize-winning Sydney painter Guy Warren reflected in the window of his studio, as he looks out at his garden. As 2021 marks Guy's 100th birthday (16 April), he recounts a lifetime of creativity, including during his service in New Guinea with the RAAF in the Second World War: 'While other people spent time playing cards, I would go out and draw. I loved the jungle. It looked like a giant 3D drawing.' Jungles and rainforests have remained a recurring theme in Guy's art practice, with an interplay of memory, form and primitive symbolism.
