Grapho is the title of the work, and a reference to what its subject, Calvin Crawford, is doing. Calvin is a good friend of mine, and a focused individual. I’ve depicted him here in a moment of intensity related to the piece’s theme – a reflection of his perspective on actuality.

The Darling Prize is a new biennial prize for Australian portrait painters, painting Australian sitters. The winner receives a cash prize of $75,000.
