National Photographic Portrait Prize 2017 Finalist
In 2016 I’m continuing with ‘Resist Laughter’, a project about young feminists in Turkey, and Ezgi was one of the women I photographed when I returned to Istanbul. When I asked her how she was feeling given the events of the past year in the country – an attempted coup, multiple terrorist attacks and now, state of emergency laws – she told me she was exhausted, despite a recent three-month summer vacation; tired in a way that sleep would not remedy.
The exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
