National Photographic Portrait Prize 2016 Finalist
Kurt Coleman knows a lot about being photographed, though he usually does it himself. As an eighteen-year-old ‘selfie’-made social media celeb, Kurt's 600,000+ followers like, criticise and share his every move. In the glow of a Gold Coast sunset on a day of spray tans, sushi and screaming fans in Surfers Paradise, Kurt takes a break from filming an interview with the ABC. He knows what he's good at; “I don't have a real talent. My talent is being myself. You might not get that, but that's literally my talent … I'm professional at being myself.”
The National Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
