National Photographic Portrait Prize 2015 Finalist
I captured Tom and Pepper the Masked Owl at the St Ives Medieval Faire, 2014. When I shoot a portrait my aim is to capture the essence of that being as they are in that exact moment. Tom and Pepper have a real connection and by bringing the portable studio to them, isolating them from distractions on the black backdrop, I am able to capture them with authenticity.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
