National Photographic Portrait Prize 2015 Finalist
Ronnie Howard turned 99 years old in January 2015. For the last 33 years he has been a well-known personality in the Warburton community in Victoria. His love of dancing and singing is still alive within him. Bill Howard, his late son, was a member of the Red Onion Jazz Band in the 1960s. I photographed him in front of the Mechanics Hall stage. He was instrumental in the restoration of the Hall, which had fallen into despair. It is now the centre point of community life and culture. As a further contribution, Ronnie donated a piano in 2006.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
