National Photographic Portrait Prize 2015 Finalist
Swift changes in adolescent bodies prompt young people to make and remake their identities, sensibilities and relationships. While dealing with rapid somatic change, they are also subject to ambivalent messages about the risks and vulnerabilities of youth. Here, raw emotion flows between Sasha and Gus as they make sense of becoming adult amid this societal ambivalence. Two years older, Sasha troubles Gus over bodily change.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
