National Photographic Portrait Prize 2013 Finalist
Vincent Fantauzzo is a Melbourne-based painter and portraitist. This photograph was taken shortly after he had moved into his new studio in the refurbished heritage listed JH Boyd Girls School. The 19th-century neo-gothic building, with its wonderful light and proportions, seems to be a poetically appropriate space in which Vincent can create his cinematic, photorealist portraits. He has twice won the Archibald Prize’s People's Choice award and the 2011 Doug Moran Portrait Prize.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is selected from a national field of entries that reflect the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
