National Photographic Portrait Prize 2007 Finalist
Since he was born, my brother David has had a strong bond with my father. No matter where and when, David will always try to show his love towards him, even in public spaces. Sometimes his actions will make my father a bit annoyed. This photo was taken exactly when that happened. When I saw what David was doing, I had to react quickly in order to capture the essence of the situation. I couldn't play around too much with the angle of the shot or the lighting. So I just took my chances and hoped for the best, framing the shot as closely as I could to show the facial expression of both my father and brother. Fortunately, the shot turned out quite well.
Photography is the most pervasive and popular medium for portraiture and makes a natural fit with the Gallery, being a natural extension of the Gallery's longstanding commitment to photography as a contemporary portrait medium.
