National Photographic Portrait Prize 2007 Finalist
This photograph of the noted photographer and historian, John Williams, was taken not long after he had moved to the Blue Mountains shortly after the tragic loss of his partner, the well-known photographer Ingeborg Thysen. It was shot on 5x4 film and finished in the traditional way of the darkroom.
Photography is the most pervasive and popular medium for portraiture and makes a natural fit with the Gallery, being a natural extension of the Gallery's longstanding commitment to photography as a contemporary portrait medium.
