Shay Carthew grew up the son of a builder in a small town called Broken Hill in outback New South Wales. Known as Shay Alexander in his chosen industry of fashion design, at twenty-one he is already bored with what his Sydney contemporaries describe as success and he now pursues a global audience to express authentic Australian ideas in a genuinely Australian language. Opportunities to nourish ambition and success are most commonly sought through the largest windows. The smaller more isolated windows, although requiring effort to be viewed from up close, often hold the richest veins of inspiration.
