I am interested in the intangible and ambiguous nature of sexuality and the assumption of gender and sex as binary. Untitled (Self Portraits) are a physical exploration of sexuality through mythological, historical and psychological perspectives, as well as a personal meditation on sexual experience. The work makes subtle shifts between myth and reality, conscious and subconscious, grotesque and beautiful. There is tension between passive subjectivity and the mindful creator; a historically significant aspect pertaining to women artists and self portraiture.
