Monochromatic Self-Portrait, 2000

by Genevieve Preston

Monochromatic Self-Portrait, 2000

gouache/acrylic paint on board
42 x 29 cm
Year 9, The Scots School Albury, Albury

My name is Genevieve Preston. I am fourteen years old and live in Albury. When I began painting myself I realised that actually it was quite difficult. In my painting I tried to capture something about myself and I believe I have done that. I especially like my eyes in the painting and I like the effect of having the head in the corner with a large area of dark background. I also like the way the hair is. Overall, I am pretty happy with the portrait.
