synthetic polymer paint on acrylic sheet
19.8 x 40.5 cm
on display at the National Portrait Gallery
The inspiration for my self portrait stemmed from nostalgia. I looked through photo albums and saw pictures of myself during childhood, feeling as though I was looking at a stranger. In my portrait I have juxtaposed myself at three different times during my life. The images, taken from photo albums and translated onto clear acrylic, float separately in space. Acrylic paint on perspex produces a unique aesthetic.
