Everyone struggles to fit in. Many things put pressure on us to fit in, like the media, society, peers, drugs and fashion. Sometimes it feels as though we're boxed in – unable to push our way out of the canvas that tells us who we are, what we wear and how we act. My painting shows me in my school uniform, which says nothing about my true personality, trapped by just trying to fit in. It reflects the way I sometimes feel unable to express myself, unable to be an individual, conforming even though it hurts me to do so.
