Year 11, St Mary's Anglican Girls' School WA
ink and collage on paper
Being a teenager, my life seems to revolve around school. My school studies and friends are making a pathway for my future. There are many symbols in my work. The uniform and insects reflect my life and values. My ability to work in a team is represented by a bee. The butterfly reflects metamorphosis and my changing life from childhood and adolescence through to adulthood. The dragonfly symbolises maturity, and the scarab beetle is an inclusion from Egyptian mythology. This work has referenced the artist Del Kathryn Barton, who has inspired the style and meaning of my work.
