My portraits are inspired by the idea that regardless of how we look, feel, dress and act, we are still equal in society. During my time experimenting with different media I found individualising the portraits was too constricting. I decided to do a single piece with multiple faces, revealing my feelings about diversity. By focussing my work emotionally, instead of physically, the appearance of each portrait changed. These changes highlight the small differences that make people unique. These faces – inspired by friends, role models and mallrats – represent the variety of people who have made an impression on me.
