National Photographic Portrait Prize 2011 Finalist
Boy’s own adventure and theatre have always captured children’s imaginations. They are forums to explore adult themes. Sam Herbert, teetering on the edge of teenage hood, is fascinated by hunting and developing survival skills in the bush. He plays these ideas out at his cubbyhouse, on the banks of the Break O’Day River, in Tasmania.
The NPPP exhibition is selected from a national field of entries. The annual exhibition, now in its fourth year, reflects the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
