‘One thing that this last year [2020] has reminded me is that I don’t have to travel far to find beauty in my environment and the inspiration to create photographs. It is there in my home, when I walk out on our property, and within the people and places I am surrounded by. As a return to my early Friends series, I spent time focusing on the people close to me: my family, my friends and their children. This photograph depicts the three Goodall brothers living beautifully close to the land, running barefoot, playing in the cornfields surrounding their property.’
Based on Dharawal Land near Berry, New South Wales, Tamara Dean’s multidisciplinary practice spans photography, installation, moving image and public art. Her work explores the evolving relationship between humans and the natural world, addressing themes of ecological fragility and vulnerability.
