‘This is a portrait of Ava. In Ava’s words: “I could go forever and ever. Arousal enters from below and owing to gravity it struggles to exit. An upward stretch is a desire path – I wander off road only uphill, only listening to Dido.”’
Camille Perry is a queer Naarm/Melbourne-based artist whose research-based practice engages with queer archives and the passage of time. Through photographic and film production Perry considers how technologies designed to preserve memory sometimes expose its fragility.
The People’s Choice Award is generously supported by the Calvert-Jones Foundation, with the artist who wins the most votes receiving $10,000.
