National Photographic Portrait Prize 2025 Finalist
‘I took this self portrait on 35mm film using Portra 400. I wanted to capture the fleeting moment of freedom felt within when untethered from responsibility. A chance to live life on my terms. The photograph depicts this feeling of longing, joy and excitement. It is natural, candid and captures the true feeling of the moment.’
Tiarni Majid-Loban is a proud Wuthathi woman with connections to the Torres Strait who lives and works on Yuwi Country/Mackay, Queensland. Her photography documents the present for the future.
