National Photographic Portrait Prize 2025 Finalist
‘I made this photograph with Gamilaraay musician Thelma Plum on Wilyakali Country last winter. The image was shot using a Rolleicord camera on the Mundi Mundi Plains near the outback town of Broken Hill, where I live. We spent three days photographing throughout the far west New South Wales region, making a series of photographs for Thelma’s album I’m Sorry, Now Say It Back.’
Em Jensen lives and works on Wilyakali Country in Broken Hill, NSW. Her practice explores themes of nostalgia, fringe subcultures and the Australian character, with a focus on sharing the stories of people in regional and remote parts of the country.
The People’s Choice Award is generously supported by the Calvert-Jones Foundation, with the artist who wins the most votes receiving $10,000.
Voting closes Sunday 28 September 2025.
from Saturday 16 August
