Ghenoa Gela is a proud Torres Strait Islander woman and award-winning multi-disciplinary, multi-dimensional storyteller. ‘What I love most about dance is that it transcends time,’ says Gela. ‘For Winds of Woerr, Mum and I connected with a story from our past, Woerr, a sacred rock. By combining Woerr and the Four Seasonal Winds we created a new contemporary story in the present. And by sharing the knowledge and story through dance, we have created a connection to the future.’
Tara James shares the joy of dance and its power to connect in the National Portrait Gallery’s touring exhibition Dancer.
