In my artwork titled ‘Morphed’, I explore how social pressures can have an impact on how people view themselves and their appearance. When observing oneself in a mirror, often what is reflected back at us is a manipulation of our doubts and insecurities; hence the utilisation of the fish-eye lens and morphed portrait. I have chosen to depict myself in this self portrait as I know I have fallen victim to the pressures of my environment and society. During the moment captured in my painting, I felt the need to conform myself to the standards of others.
