At the Laura Quinkan Dance Festival in Far North Queensland, communities across the Cape York Peninsula come together to celebrate with music, dance, singing and cultural performances. Wayne Quilliam has been photographing the festival for over 20 years. ‘Each performance is a platform of commentary, of sharing stories that have been handed down by Indigenous people since the spirits created the land,’ Quilliam says. ‘The Elders share the knowledge: the young carry our hopes.’
