Gusta, 2022

This was taken backstage at Bangarra Dance Theatre's performance of Wudjang: Not the Past, in Sydney. I found myself alone with Gusta for a few minutes before he went back on stage. There was so much stillness backstage. It was just the two of us, which is unusual, and he was so relaxed. We didn't really talk, he just let me stand with him and let me photograph him. There is so much silent power in this moment.
